Nestled in the charming backstreets of London’s N7, just a stone’s throw from the Emirates Stadium, El Comandante Che offers a genuine and unpretentious bar experience with a captivating revolutionary spirit. This cozy local pub pays heartfelt homage to icons Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, creating an atmosphere that feels both warm and infused with a sense of history and camaraderie.
Walking into El Comandante Che, you immediately sense its unique character—walls adorned with evocative memorabilia, traditional Latino music lending rhythm to the evenings, and an intimate space that invites lingering conversations. As football fans pour in on match days, the pub buzzes with energy yet somehow manages to avoid feeling overcrowded—inside, there’s room to breathe, while outside on sunnier days, the pavement and even quiet street come alive with lively groups discussing everything from club tactics to more profound revolutionary ideas.
One of the bar's undeniable charms is its delightful authenticity. It operates on a cash-only basis, a refreshing throwback in digital-centric London that adds to its laid-back, unfiltered vibe. The drink selection may be straightforward, featuring a reliable range of beers including some standout offerings from local Homerton breweries, but the true draw isn’t just what’s on tap—it’s the welcoming spirit of the owner William and the staff, whose friendly hospitality ensures every visitor feels like part of the family.
For Arsenal supporters and curious explorers alike, El Comandante Che becomes more than just a watering hole—it’s a memorable gathering spot where camaraderie flourishes. Whether you’re here to savor a pint post-match, soak in the evocative theme, or simply unwind amidst genuine characters, this bar leaves a lasting impression of warmth, authenticity, and a quietly rebellious soul. If you appreciate places that tell a story and foster community, El Comandante Che is an essential London gem worth discovering.
Wonderful little pub dedicated to Che Guevara and Fidel Castro. Friendly owner William. Cozy warm atmosphere. A must visit for all admirers of Che and Fidel. And appreciate traditional Latino music.
No frills boozer tucked away in the beautiful backstreets right near the emirates stadium. A hidden gem - it’s perfect on a sunny day pre-match when you can all stand outside on the pavement and in the street (there’s not really any traffic at all), plotting revolution (or just discussing the Arsenal starting 11 for the afternoon ahead). Cash only, which is kind of fun in digital obsessed London. Some good Hammerton beers on tap.
Friendly pub, busy on match days, but perhaps not as crowded inside as the crowds outside look. Range of beers is fairly standard, although they do have some of the local Homerton brewery craft beer on tap / in bottles.
Awesome place to stop for a pint or two after the match to let the tube traffic die down. Owner and staff were very friendly and hospitable to all guests.
I visited after an Arsenal match. Its an unusual place with a Che Guevara / Fidel Castro theme. Friendly staff, cash only
